FROM BESENZONI COMES ILTENDERLIFT, THE ELECTRICALLY POWERED NEW SYSTEM FOR SUPPORTING AN OPERATING STERN PLATFORM DESIGNED FOR THE LAUNCH AND HAULING OUT OF TENDERS AND TOYS, AND A VALID ALTERNATIVE TO THE BATHING LADDER FOR GETTING OUT OF THE WATER. THE GROWING BEELECTRIC RANGE SITS ALONGSIDE THE HYDRAULIC PRODUCTS MADE BY THE COMPANY.

At the end of 2020, the new Besenzoni BeElectric was launched on the market. This important innovation presented a series of components, gangways, ladders and anchoring systems that were fully electric powered. At the end of 2021 the Sarnico company added a further piece to this range with a system for handling the launch and hauling out of tenders and jet skis,
IlTenderLift, which can also be used as an aid for getting out of the water. The BeElectric range is an effort by Besenzoni to simplify life on board and make it more eco-sustainable by redesigning fundamental components, giving them simple electric operating systems and enriching them with new contents of style and technology. BeElectric was prompted by various stimuli, both external – the global electric tendency that by now affects all fields, not just yachting, and the search for more eco-sustainable products – and from inside the boatbuilding field, which is asking for products that are increasingly simple to install, use and maintain.
Compared with hydraulic systems, those ofthe BeElecric family are practically plug&play: when the yard receives the component from Besenzoni it has only to connect it to the power line. The range, at least for now, is not for the superyacht sector were the size, weight and loads make hydraulics still irreplaceable.

ILTENDERLIFT
The first model of IlTenderLift has a capacity of 850 kg (including the weight of the platform), but the company plans to develop a complete series with lifting capacity between 400 and 1,200 kg. To this series there will also be added custom products that Besenzoni is banking on heavily also for this kind of component.

OWARDS A CONSTANTLY WIDENING USERSHIP
It is impossible to think of Besenzoni products without relating them to the themes of accessibility and safety: gangways, ladders and tender lifts are the ‘gateways’ to a boat.
There is an increasing demand from boatyards for this kind of product aimed at a broader usership and able to take into account the requirements of all. “We have modified some of our products to make the access on board safer and more comfortable,” says Giorgio Besenzoni, President of Besenzoni SpA. “For example, to simplify getting out of the water, the ladders we make today have a very broad step that is comfortable and safe and does not move or vibrate. The tenderlift too improves accessibility: by sinking below the water’s surface it simplifies getting in and getting out again (not just for people, but also for any animals on board) and becomes a valid alternative to the bathing ladder.” The accessibility offered by Besenzoni products is often a matter of detail. “For example, when you board the gangway from the quayside, usually the first stanchion of the handrail is a long way away and you have to take the first step without being able to hold on. For some years now we have a patent for a system that, when the gangway extends, the first stanchion comes up immediately to offer a firm grip for the first step.
Another feature of our gangways is having a full width walkway, not just in the centre: this means greater safety for people in both physical and psychological terms.” Besenzoni also produces a whole series of custom components of this kind, such as wide gangways with access ramps and special stanchions shaped to allow the passage of a wheelchair.
Then, there are the multifunction Besenzoni ladders (the SP ladder/gangway family) that offer a first step that is very broad and become platforms that can be brought down to the level of the water or the quayside (in these cases, manual stanchions can be added for safety and non-slip inserts placed in the platform; each case is studied ad hoc).
The same is true for the LP 200 ladder/ platform, a bathing or boarding ladder together with a platform for launching and hauling out the tender. The LP 200 can be slid to one side and then raised or lowered to reach the quayside, the platform has a lifting capacity of up to 400 kg.

ECO-FRIENDLY CONCEPTION, DESIGN AND PRODUCTION
With the BeElectric range, eliminating the hydraulic centre, the oil and all its circuits has created a virtuous cycle leading to quieter and more compactsystems and lighter boats.
Weight reduction leads to a series of savings and lower installation and maintenance costs; in addition, there is a reduction in fuel consumption, with less impact on the marine environment. The consumption of energy
on board is also lower because the hydraulic power of the engine is not needed.
Energy itself is optimised, thanks to electronic control of the effort with less current to avoid excessive stress to the system and structure: it is managed with 24 V DC.
In Besenzoni, attention to the environment involves not just the finished product but the production process and life in the company as well. “Alongside traditional production, which is still our core business, we are enthusiastically tackling important steps towards the design and construction of increasingly eco-compatible products” says company President Giorgio Besenzoni, “because we feel attention to sustainability has become essential. This is why, for many years and on several levels, our intention to act in a responsible way hasbeen aimed not just at the production of new articles but also at the company processes. From the more banal but drastic reduction of the use of paper in the offices, through to a complete rethinking of packaging materials which have been replaced with equally valid green alternatives, our company continues its way towards everyday management and production with increasingly less impact. To this end, we have carried out updates and replaced machinery with new solutions: for example, we use a new water cutting system that does not use mineral oil but electric pumps to avoid pollution and dispersion.”
Along the same lines, Besenzoni is working on solutions for more efficient heating of work environments by studying a geo-thermic well. In parallel, together with the Lombardy Region, it has started up a project to make a heat exchanger to exploit the warmth produced by the furnace system used in painting, recovering it to heat the various departments. “The most concrete way of progressing towards effectively sustainable
approaches involves a dialogue and collaboration with institutions and, above all, requires the individual actions of each one of us.”
